“One year ago, House Republicans passed their singular legislative goal: Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Law. This devastating budget has made life more expensive and difficult for families across the country.
The United States Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling in Mullin v. Doe, which allows the Trump Administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haitian and Syrian nationals, was met with dismay by immigrant advocates and members of Cambridge’s Haitian community.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) joined Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chair Mike Thompson (CA-4) and House Democrats to mark the fourth anniversary of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Below are her remarks as prepared for delivery:
"Today is a reminder that widespread gun violence is a policy choice. We can choose to enact solutions that save lives. The Safer Communities Act didn’t deliver every step we need, and there is still more work to do. But this was a generational achievement.
Democrats on Capitol Hill railed against a Supreme Court decision on Thursday that found the Trump administration can strip temporary legal protections from Haitian and Syrian migrants.
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 along ideological lines that federal judges are barred from reviewing many of the challengers’ claims, opening the door for potential deportations of hundreds of thousands of individuals who hold temporary protected status (TPS).

“Donald Trump lost a reckless war that he started, and the American people are paying the price. Costs for gas, groceries, and utility bills have skyrocketed. Families have been forced to make impossible choices just to get by while the president has repeatedly told them how little he cares about their financial situations. Thirteen service members have lost their lives, and hundreds more are injured.
Construction of Donald Trump’s White House ballroom is projected to cost $600 million, significantly more than the president has previously said, with taxpayers covering more than half that amount, according to a new report from the Washington Post, which cited internal government documents.
Trump has repeatedly said the ballroom under construction on the East Wing of the White House would cost $400 million, up from $200 million he estimated when the project was first announced in July 2025. From the outset, the president has said he will use private donations to cover the costs.
