WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, in recognition of the start of Gun Violence Awareness Month, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) joined Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (CA-33), Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chair Mike Thompson (CA-4), and Members of the House Democratic Caucus to reflect on the progress Democrats have made toward a future free from gun violence and to demand that Republicans join in taking action. Democrats in the lower chamber on Tuesday announced a plan to try to force a vote on legislation to protect access to contraception.  

Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) and Rep. Kathy Manning (D-N.C.) unveiled a discharge petition on the Right to Contraception Act, a day ahead of a Senate vote on companion legislation and three weeks before the two-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision that ended the constitutional right to an abortion.
